Title IV - Clergy Disciplinary Information

Title IV refers to the section of the Canons of The Episcopal Church governing ecclesiastical discipline for clergy (deacons, priests, and bishops). Rather than being purely punitive, the Title IV process is designed to promote accountability, pastoral care, truth-telling, reconciliation, and the restoration of healthy relationships.

The Intake Process

The process begins with an Intake Officer, who receives information regarding potential clergy misconduct (such as violations of ordination vows, abuse of authority, or neglect of pastoral duties). Anyone with concerns about a deacon or priest in the diocese-northwest-texas may contact the Intake Officer directly.

Note: Concerns regarding a bishop are handled through a separate Title IV process and are not investigated by the diocesan Intake Officer.
