Following the implementation of Texas Senate Bill 17 (prohibiting DEI programs) and subsequent 2025–2026 restrictions on classroom instruction concerning race, gender, and sexuality at Texas Tech University, the campus ministry [[page-3186991|Canterbury]] responded by centering its Welcome Week on "Radical Acceptance."

Rooted in the Baptismal Covenant promise to "respect the dignity of every human being," Canterbury's commitment asserts that students do not have to earn belonging, hide their identities, or conform to participate. This ministry intentionally supports:

• LGBTQ+ and international students
• Students of color
• Individuals questioning their faith or hurt by the Church

Canterbury seeks to remain a faithful dissenting voice and a community where difference does not lead to division.
