At the end of May, we took 19 people to Colorado Springs for our annual Canterbury retreat. We actually stayed south of Colorado Springs in Walsenburg, CO. This made a great central location for traveling to Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, the Great Sand Dunes National Park, and Santa Fe. This year, our retreat focused on the concept of love and what love in action means. We took a deep dive into understanding the meaning of mutual respect and our baptismal call to love one another as God loves us. We were pleased to have Mtr. Rachel Petty from St. Christopher’s in Lubbock, Mtr. Miriam Scott from St. Andrew’s in Amarillo, and Deacon Tammy Breitbarth from St. Andrew’s in Amarillo join us! Everyone agreed that this retreat was probably the best retreat we have had in recent years. The skies were beautiful, the message of love was deeply enriching, and we took time to bond, laugh, and play. What a wonderful retreat!
We want to thank everyone in the diocese for the many ways that you have supported Canterbury throughout the semester to make our retreat possible. We are grateful to those of you who donated to our yearly garage sale, came to date night fundraisers, parked in our parking lot during home football games, donated to our breakfast fundraisers, bought t-shirts and stickers, and supported our students in numerous ways. Our community exists because of your generosity and love. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
