What about this elected ministry interests you? What do you hope to contribute if you are elected? Please include any gifts, talents, skills or experiences which shape the contributions you hope to make.

I have experience monitoring investments, managing custodial responsibilities for funds, performing financial reporting, and administering investment funds for organizations.

What two or three opportunities do you see facing the Church today - on the local, diocesan, or national scale? How are you currently responding or how do you hope to respond to these opportunities?

The challenge for the local congregations and diocese is providing funding for programs. The challenge is how to provide adequate funding for the diocese's administration, programs, and congregations that need assistance. Some congregations need assistance, so how to fund this and how to supplement and not supplant while also helping the programs of the church.

A vibrant and active diocese strengthens not only the local congregations but also the wider church. When our diocese flourishes in worship, mission, leadership, and service, we contribute to the health and vitality of the whole Church

What are some things you have enjoyed doing or have an interest in doing in the diocese?

I enjoy working with the people of the diocese. I can contribute my experience and financial background to assist the congregations and the diocesan administration.

I have been a law enforcement chaplain in this part of the diocese for 4 years, including being chaplain at the agency’s academy. I have 11 years’ experience in this field in another diocese.
I am on the board of trustees at Trinity School of Midland, an independent private school.

I have been on the executive council and camp board of trustees as well as deputy to general convention in former dioceses. I have been on standing committee in this and other dioceses. I was president of the standing committee in this diocese. I am president of the disciplinary board and chair of the constitutions and canons committee.

What about this elected ministry interests you? What do you hope to contribute if you are elected? Please include any gifts, talents, skills or experiences which shape the contributions you hope to make.

My primary contributions to standing committee would be nearly 35 years’ experience in ordained ministry in a variety of settings; expertise in mediating difficult discussions; and, a fresh outlook on the workings of the diocese. I have also been involved in 2 bishop transitions.
I believe that I can be a significant help to our new bishop during their first 2 years in the Episcopacy.

What two or three opportunities do you see facing the Church today - on the local, diocesan, or national scale? How are you currently responding or how do you hope to respond to these opportunities?

Maintaining financial security at the parochial and diocesan levels.
Finding and retaining clergy.
Ensuring a smooth and coherent transition from Bishop Mayer and our new diocesan.

What are some things you have enjoyed doing or have an interest in doing in the diocese?

I like working with others in setting vision and direction for organizations in which I am a part.
I enjoy participating in clergy gatherings and conferences.
I enjoy law enforcement chaplaincy.

What two or three opportunities do you see facing the Church today - on the local, diocesan, or national scale? How are you currently responding or how do you hope to respond to these opportunities?

Communication about who we are and filling our pews!

What are some things you have enjoyed doing or have an interest in doing in the diocese?

I enjoy being an ‘ambassador’ for the church and introducing it to those from other denominations or faiths. (This happens often at school.)

I enjoy teaching, as well as facilitating groups getting together to learn and grow.

Please list out any civic activities in which you are involved

I currently run the scoreboard for Texas Tech Women's Athletics; specifically, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball and as a fill-in for Men's Basketball. I absolutely love this job! I have been involved in supporting LGBTQ+ local events.

I was formally an Acolyte and Acolyte Master for over 25 years at St. Stephen's. I am currently a Lay Eucharistic Minister and a Beyond the Altar Lay Eucharistic Minister. I also am on the video team to broadcast various services. I participate in a movie theology group and church dinner groups. I was a former Jr. Warden for 4 years.

I have been a delegate in the past, but currently I am the Head of Dispatch of Business for the convention of the Diocese of Northwest Texas.

What about this elected ministry interests you? What do you hope to contribute if you are elected? Please include any gifts, talents, skills or experiences which shape the contributions you hope to make.

I like to see things done properly, within the guidelines of the canons and constitutions. Throughout my working life, I learned that my work ethic, my eagerness to learn and common sense were things that really mattered. I have managed successfully, millions of dollars in construction projects on the Texas Tech campuses in Lubbock, Amarillo and Odessa. My gifts and skills and talents are to make these projects happen smoothly with all parties involved and within budget.

What two or three opportunities do you see facing the Church today - on the local, diocesan, or national scale? How are you currently responding or how do you hope to respond to these opportunities?

Most evangelicals do not know anything about our church, and we need a local and national media campaign to bring the church to more people. I try to encourage people who are looking for a church home to try the Episcopal Church. I believe at a local level, we should sponsor more activities that appeal to non-Episcopalians. On the diocesan level, we are few and far between. I believe a conference could be sponsored for all Episcopalians in the diocese to learn and discern our church.

What are some things you have enjoyed doing or have an interest in doing in the diocese?

I have never been on a Standing Committee. I would love the opportunity to experience and participate the committee's workings.

I have previously served on the Executive Council. I believe that as we welcome a new Bishop, I could serve in the transition.

What two or three opportunities do you see facing the Church today - on the local, diocesan, or national scale? How are you currently responding or how do you hope to respond to these opportunities?

Locally, I believe there is a lot of work to be done, and we can grow from small churches to larger ones. At the Diocesan level, I believe there are great changes coming, especially as we welcome a new Bishop and work to live into the Lord's call in our lives. Nationally, I think that we are in a time of transition. As we move into each new year, the church is being called to live into a place of solid faith, rooted in tradition, Scripture, and Reason.

What are some things you have enjoyed doing or have an interest in doing in the diocese?

I love serving at Canterbury ministry when I am invited. I also enjoy serving as Chaplain to St. John's Episcopal School. I enjoy participating in Diocesan events whenever possible and look forward to Diocesan gatherings when they happen.

I was appointed to serve as a Delegate to the National Convention when our elected delegation had an illness and was short a delegate.
I am currently on the Disciplinary Committee for NWT.
I have served as a delegate to the diocesan convention on at least two occasions.

What about this elected ministry interests you? What do you hope to contribute if you are elected? Please include any gifts, talents, skills or experiences which shape the contributions you hope to make.

I have served at the parish level many times and believe I should bring my experience to the diocesan level. I believe that my experience serving on various boards and leadership positions in my career and the church will help me if elected.

What two or three opportunities do you see facing the Church today - on the local, diocesan, or national scale? How are you currently responding or how do you hope to respond to these opportunities?

As a nation we are experiencing troubling, uncertain times, I feel as a liturgical church we need to stand fast behind our traditions, providing a sense of stability to our community both in the church and the community around us. I believe that we need to prayerfully use our resources to help those who are struggling. My wife, Mary, and I founded "Showers of Blessings," providing showers to those who are experiencing homelessness.

What are some things you have enjoyed doing or have an interest in doing in the diocese?

I look forward to meeting other members of the greater “Episcopal” church, as well as seeing how things work at the diocesan and perhaps the National level.
