Safeguarding God's Children is also available as an online course in Northwest Texas. The diocesan policy states, "The initial training using the Safeguarding God’s Children program must be done in person with a diocesan-approved trainer unless the Diocesan Safe Church Adminstrator has given permission in writing for the training to be done online. This permission will only be granted for initial training if attendance at a live class is impractical. Re-certification training using the Safeguarding God’s Children program should be done online rather than through a live class since the online version contains updated information."
The online course for re-certification, Abuse Prevention Refresher, is easy and takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. Additionally, the module, entitled Your Policies, must also be completed before certification may be completed. In addition to taking the online course one must pass a mandatory Criminal HIstory check performed by diocesan staff.
The forms listed below must be completed and sent to the Diocesan Safe Church Administrator, Deacon Nancy Igo, prior to accessing the course online. All forms may be completed on a computer, digitally signed, saved as documents, and attached to an email to Deacon Igo, for ease of sending. The forms may also be printed and sent by U.S. mail, or faxed.
